Rob Schneider Responds to Daughter Elle King Calling Out His Parenting

Rob Schneider is getting candid about his shortcomings as a father.
The Saturday Night Live alum spoke out to address allegations his daughter Elle King made about her difficult childhood with Rob and their current lack of communication.
"It's fun being a parent, isn't?" Rob began on an Aug. 14 preview of his interview on The Tucker Carlson Show podcast. "I want to just tell my daughter: Elle, I love you, and I wish I was the father of my 20s that that you needed, and clearly I wasn't."
The 60-year-old asked Elle—who shares son Lucky, 2, with Daniel Tooker—to forgive his "shortcomings," adding, "I love you completely. I love you entirely."
"I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky," he continued. "I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally."
Tucker was impressed by Rob's response, asking him how hard it was to not "make any excuses or blame her or attack back."
"If you love somebody completely," Rob explained, "you just—I love her. And all I want for her is to be happy and to heal from this."
Elle has yet to respond to her father's comments, but the "Ex's and Oh's" singer was open earlier this week when it came to discussing their strained relationship, saying he sent her to a weight loss camp when she was young.
"I was a really, really heavy child," Elle explained on the Dumb Blonde podcast Aug. 12. "My dad sent me to fat camp. It was rough and I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and I didn't lose any weight. It's very toxic and very silly."
The 35-year-old—whose mother is Rob's first wife, London King—also recounted spending summers with her father on set, which she described as a less than idyllic time.
"I would just get lost in the shuffle," she said. "If I ever messed up a shot, or if an arm was in the camera, or I was talking, I would get in f--king trouble."
And she said her experience with the Hot Chick actor has shaped her own parenting choices when it comes to Lucky.
"My dad forgot about every single birthday," she added. "I spent my 18th birthday in a summer school and they brought me cupcakes and when I came home, my dad had forgotten. I put every ounce of my being into my son's birthday because I know how it feels to be forgotten on your birthday."
But most of all, she shared that does not "want to be associated with him."
"He's just not nice," she continued. "I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You can want someone to change so much and ultimately, you can't control anyone else's actions. You can't control people's feelings. All you can control is how you react and what you do with your feelings."
